  • Amazing God, Amazing Grace, Simply Amazed

To what lengths would God go to show forth His glory within the earth? Would His action be a surprise to us, awakening us from our mundane lives to God glorifying faith? He certainly has done this many times throughout history, but would we allow the notion that God desires to do this today! I must say that I have been challenged by such thoughts over the past few months, and the conclusion that I have come to is that God will use all that is His, the earth and all that dwell in it, to show forth His glory in this very age.

The road I have traveled to find this truth has left me humbled by God's magnificent plan. God had begun preparing my heart this past summer for something, but I did not know exactly what for. I was working in anticipation of returning to college for the fall semester to kick off my junior year at Tulane University, but something left me unsettled about those plans. I had a gnawing feeling that I was to sit out the fall semester. I knew that this could very well be an attack of the enemy to keep me from being faithful where God had placed me, and so I was not going to change my plans unless God specifically directed otherwise.

I continued with preparations for the school year, until abruptly my plans changed. I was at Tulane helping the freshmen class move into the dormitories when I heard the startling news that the university would be closing that evening in preparation for hurricane Katrina. At this point I still had no clue what God had in store for me, but as the days passed and I began to realize that I would not be attending classes for the fall. I knew that God had something in mind.

It is a sure statement that “God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” God’s purpose for me was to bring me to New York to apprentice with a pastor who has fifty years of ministry experience and He did not limit Himself from using a hurricane to bring me here. Wow, how amazingly God displays His glory.
